Croatia Annual Inflation Slows in June, Prelim

The annual inflation rate in Croatia eased to 2.4% in June, the lowest since June 2021, down from 3.3% in the previous month, preliminary estimates from the Zagreb-based Croatian Bureau of Statistics (Crostat) showed.

Prices of food, beverages, and tobacco rose by 2.1%, meantime service costs increased by 5.5%. Industrial non-food products (excluding energy) gained 1.5%.

Meanwhile, energy costs decreased 0.5%. On a monthly basis, consumer prices showed no increase in June, after a 0.1% rise in May.

Measured by the EU-harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP), prices of goods and services for personal consumption increased by an average 3.4% in June. On a monthly comparison basis, HICP rose by an estimated 0.8%.

Croatia reported a 4.3% annual rise and an 0.2% monthly increase in HICP in May.
