The Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden attracted 580,000 visitors in the first half of the year and that number is set to climb over 1m by year-end, the zoo's director of conservation and veterinary services said at a press conference on Thursday.
Endre Sós noted that the Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden was the most visited cultural institution in the country.
He said foreigners had accounted for about 20-25% of visitors so far this year.
Last year, the zoo drew 1,113,000 visitors.
