Construction of Weerts Logistics Park in Ebes Reaches Highest Point

Logistics

In June 2024, the latest construction of the Weerts Logistics Park (WLP), being built in the neighborhood of Debrecen, in Ebes, entered its next phase, according to a press release sent to the Budapest Business Journal.

Although the completion of the entire logistics complex with a floor area of nearly 55,000 sqm is expected in 2026, the construction of the 22,000 sqm hall in its first phase has reached its highest point.

In July 2022, Weerts Logistics Park HUR One Ltd. bought more than 12 acres of land from the municipality. It committed to carry out an investment including a building with a floor area of at least 50,000 sqm by December 31, 2026. After the construction's foundation stone was laid in March, the investment reached another milestone in June, reaching the highest point of Phase I.

During construction, both the Belgian-Hungarian warehouse developer and the contractor intend to rely on well-trained, local labor, according to the press release. The impact of the investment will also be reflected at the scale of the national economy.

The logistics building, featuring energy-efficient solutions, meets the requirements of the Breeam "Very Good" rating.

"When planning the building, we already put the emphasis on carrying out our construction in the most sustainable way, which is why we intend on accommodating an outstanding number of parking spaces typical of automotive logistics on an additional 1,5 acres of land, thereby avoiding the ecological burden caused by underground parking, and a dog park developed for the residents of the settlement. The heating of the building is provided by sustainable heat pump solutions instead of gas-based heating, which can even be supplemented with solar panels according to the tenant's needs," highlights Tibor Lőrincz-Hadnagy, COO & operations manager of the project.

"And by installing solar energy systems, we reduce the ecological footprint of the construction, contributing towards a sustainable operation. We planned the heat supply and air-conditioning solution for the office blocks as a separate, independent system," highlights Tibor Lőrincz-Hadnagy, COO & operations manager of the project," he adds.

The complex's buildings, equipped with numerous industrial loading gates, are specifically designed for large logistics companies. The halls are suitable for receiving trucks. At the logistics base, 50 truck parking lots, 52 loading docks, level and docking gates with hydraulic ramp levelers, and a sideloading solution make moving goods easier.

The buildings are specialized in serving the needs of e-commerce and parcel delivery, refrigerated, deep-frozen, and temperature-controlled products, as well as light industrial manufacturing and assembly companies. The high-ceilinged reinforced concrete frame building consists of a total of four independent rental units, which, due to the built-in energy-efficient solutions, have low utility costs, excellent lighting, and interior design. Another special feature of the building is that 1,286 sqm of office space was also included during the planning.

This enables companies to move the entire company's office equipment into the "office building" with a reception, an open office design, a kitchen, and a meeting room.”
