Municipal Waste Generation per Capita in Hungary Under EU Avg

Around 406 kg of municipal waste per person was generated in Hungary in 2022, well under the 513 kg average for the European Union as a whole, news agency MTI reports citing data compiled by Eurostat.

In a regional comparison, the volume of municipal waste per person stood at 364 kg/person in Poland and 478 kg/person in Slovakia. In the Czech Republic, where the latest data were from 2021, that volume reached 570 kg/person.

Around 133kg of municipal waste per person was recycled in Hungary in 2022, under the 249 kg/person EU average.
