Tech and electromobility company CATL says that it has been working on solutions how to drastically reduce technological water consumption, the details of which will be announced in the near future.

The company has committed to achieving carbon neutrality in its core operations by 2025 in all its factories. The use of closed production technology and the strict monitoring system will ensure that the production process at its Debrecen plant complies with environmental standards and regulations, CATL says.

Four of CATL’s factories have been recognized as carbon-neutral and three CATL factories have been chosen by the World Economic Forum as Lighthouse factories, making them the only three Lighthouse factories in the battery industry worldwide. CATL says that it will adopt its experience in green manufacturing and industry 4.0 technologies also in its Debrecen plant.

By constructing its second European battery factory in Debrecen's Southern Industrial Park, the company will soon become one of the largest employers in the region. The company has committed itself to Debrecen for the long term, and aims to play an active and positive role in the city’s life and development. CATL Debrecen has respected the very strict environmental requirements of the Hajdú-Bihar County and has since initiated several modifications to its environmental permit to further reduce emissions.

CATL's management has recognized that water is a major concern for the people of Debrecen. As a result, the company has been working on solutions how to significantly reduce its technological water consumption, the details of which the company will announce in the near future.
