Hungary aims to become a leader in green energy storage, Energy Affairs Minister Csaba Lantos said at a conference in Budakalasz, on the outskirts of the capital, on Tuesday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.
Lantos said that Hungary already had a nominal solar power capacity of 6.3 GW, enough to cover domestic electricity demand of between 4.5 GW and 7.4 GW.
By 2030, Hungary's solar power capacity is set to reach 12 GW, according to the report.
This could make the country a net exporter of electricity if it has enough energy storage, the minister added.
