According to the office, the water level of Lake Velence has fallen to an exceptionally low level following the dry spring, standing significantly below values measured at the same time of year over the past 10 years. The situation has made the operation of several beaches impossible.

Due to the low water level and decisions by operators, Sirály Beach in Gárdony, Napsugár Beach in Agárd and the Panoráma Partszakasz Pisztráng úti Beach will not operate this season.

The Velence Pagony Camping and Beach will also not accept bathers, as it currently does not have a bathing water use permit.

The closures mean that beachgoing will not be possible at several well-known sections of Lake Velence this year, as concerns grow over the condition of one of Hungary’s most popular lakes.

Feol reported in recent days that the water level of Lake Velence has already reached a historic low. On the evening of June 16, the water level at the Agárd gauge was again measured at 53 centimeters, matching the previous record low recorded in 2022.

Experts say the heat wave expected in the coming days could further worsen the situation, as increased evaporation may remove additional centimeters from the lake. This could affect not only beachgoing but also water quality.

The Fejér County Government Office said it is continuously monitoring water quality at the beaches of Lake Velence and will provide further information if necessary.
