Noodle maker Gyermelyi marks 50 years in business
Hungarian noodle maker Gyermelyi, which turns out enough product to fully meet domestic demand, marked its 50th anniversary at a celebration on Wednesday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.
Gyermelyi now produces 70,000 tonnes of noodles a year. Exports, to more than 20 countries, account for 35% of sales.
Chairman-CEO Béla Tóth said Gyermelyi's plant in Gyermely, a village in northwest Hungary, makes almost half of the noodles consumed in Hungary.
Gyermelyi had revenue of close to HUF 29 billion last year. The company has plowed HUF 22 bln into investments over the past five years. Gyermelyi has more than 500 people on payroll.
Agriculture Minister István Nagy spoke at the gala on Wednesday.
