Gergely Karácsony said that after 16 years, the Budapest Green Prefab Program was being relaunched to help modernize the energy efficiency of prefab buildings, reduce utility costs, and make homes more comfortable.
The program is already available in Districts 9, 10, and 13, with other districts set to join soon, he added.
The Budapest Public Utilities Company, which is responsible for implementing the scheme, said on its website that approximately HUF 1.3 billion will be available for the programme in the coming period, of which a minimum of 30% will be available as non-repayable grants for energy upgrades.
Condominiums and housing cooperatives built with prefab blocks or other industrialised technology are eligible to participate in the application process.
