Róbert Keszte is the country director of Aumovio Hungary. He was previously managing director of Continental Automotive Hungary Ltd. and head of the Budapest plant, and, since 2021, had also served as country head for the Continental Group in Hungary.

Keszte holds a degree in mechanical engineering and a doctorate from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, as well as a degree in economics from Corvinus University of Budapest. Within the new corporate structure, he serves as global head of production for Aumovio’s Architecture and Networking Solutions business unit, as well as being the country director for Aumovio’s operations in Hungary.

“Aumovio’s operations in Hungary are built on stability and expertise. Our goal is to ensure that our Hungarian sites continue to contribute to the development of global mobility solutions while fostering the growth and engagement of our employees,” Keszte tells the Budapest Business Journal.

“In today’s macroeconomic environment, continuously improving efficiency and competitiveness is more important than ever. The automotive industry is changing at an unprecedented pace, and our company must respond with openness and flexibility. This requires highly skilled professionals capable of adapting and continuously evolving to meet market demands,” Keszte adds.

Years of Experience

Szabolcs Tomkó is the head of human resources for Aumovio Hungary. He brings more than a decade of experience within the Continental Group, during which he led HR teams and processes across manufacturing and R&D environments.

During a multi-year assignment in Germany, he supported talent management and training processes across 21 electronic plants worldwide. Later, as head of HR for the Budapest Development Center, he tripled the number of development engineers under his leadership.

Currently, alongside his national HR responsibilities, Tomkó also oversees HR operations at the Budapest manufacturing plant, managing a professional team of around 20 people.

“As HR director, my main goal is to create a work environment where our employees remain motivated and engaged in the long term. This is a real challenge in today’s automotive landscape, but nothing proves our success better than the fact that the average tenure at the company is nearly 10 years,” Tomkó says.

“Identifying and developing talent is key to ensuring the company’s sustainable growth. My own career path also reflects this: I started as an intern, originally applying for a logistics position, but thanks to my mentor, I found my calling in HR. I believe that a strong team spirit and a culture of continuous learning will make Aumovio truly competitive,” he adds.

Continuity and Excellence

The leadership of the automotive firm’s two Hungarian plants and development centers is unchanged, ensuring both continuity and professional excellence. András Mészáros continues to lead the Veszprém factory and development center as managing director, while Zoltán Dapsy remains at the helm of the Budapest plant. The Budapest Development Center, meanwhile, continues to be led by Balázs Lóránd.

The experience and institutional knowledge of these seasoned leaders guarantee the company’s continuity and its commitment to world-class manufacturing and R&D activities, the firm says.

Aumovio’s Hungarian sites, formerly part of Continental, continue to operate in line with the company’s global strategy. The Budapest Development Center serves as the Hungarian center of excellence for advanced driver assistance and automated driving systems. Building on its strong capabilities in artificial intelligence and software development expertise, it works to take next-generation mobility, including automated parking solutions, to a new level.

The Veszprém Development Center, on the other hand, specializes in the development of sensors and vehicle dynamics systems, supported by its own proving ground and laboratory facilities that strengthen the company’s R&D activities. In addition, the Veszprém site also manufactures sensors for vehicle safety systems and battery applications.

Meanwhile, at the Budapest factory, electronic control units, displays, and infotainment systems are produced using state-of-the-art technologies. At the end of 2023, the plant became the first in Europe to manufacture the company’s new-generation electronic brake system, featuring high computing capacity and advanced cybersecurity functions.

The Hungarian management team embodies both tradition and innovation: the combination of experienced leaders with the company’s new organizational structure will enable the Hungarian sites and their about 3,700 employees to continue to play a critical role in developing automotive innovations and the mobility technologies of the future.
