Lázár was joined by officials from the National Police Headquarters (ORFK), the Tax and Customs Authority (NAV) and the national road maintenance and toll company, as well as state secretary for agriculture Imre Hubai.
The ministry said the talks were “constructive”.
Keeping international lorries passing through Hungary on motorways and expressways, and off of secondary roads, remains a shared goal, it added.
Lázár acknowledged the hauliers’ complaint that a 35% increase in tolls for commercial vehicles set to come into effect on March 1 would hit the sector hard and asked state organizations to come up with another recommendation by February 15, the ministry said.
The talks will continue with the aim of finding a “consensus-based solution”, it added.
