Spa towns, such as Hévíz, Zalakaros, and Hajdúszoboszló, were the most popular destinations for domestic travel, Visit Hungary told MTI.

Hévíz, home to the world’s largest biologically active natural thermal lake, was also the most popular destination for foreign visitors.

Revenue of tourism accommodations reached about HUF 7.5 billion over the weekend.

As the BBJ reported earlier, Hungary achieved significant growth in tourism last year, with visitor numbers rising 11% to reach 18 million, while guest nights increased by some 6%.
