Green party MPs discuss corruption, Paks with Goodfriend

Bernadett Szél and András Shiffer, MPs of Hungarian green party LMP, met U.S. Chargé d’Affaires André Goodfriend yesterday to discuss the expansion of Hungary’s nuclear power plant at Paks and the fracas caused by the revelation in October that America considers some Hungarian officials corrupt, online daily origo.hu reported.

Schiffer said Goodfriend told her that the United States has not accused anyone with committing crime, only the restricted entrance to the States for six unnamed individuals due to violating Proclamation 7750. “Violating the proclamation does not necessarily mean committing crime in Hungary” Goodfriend was cited saying on origo.hu.

On the Russian deal regarding the Paks expansion, Goodfriend reportedly reiterated that America's concerns are caused by the lack of transparency and not the fact that Russia is involved in the deal.
