Their inclusion in the action plan will translate as HUF 9 bln-12 bln in support for confectioneries in 2026, the ministry said.

There are over 3,000 confectioneries in Hungary with combined annual revenue of HUF 127 bln. The ministry announced the rollout of the catering industry action plan in January.

In the framework of the scheme, representation costs will be tax deductible up to 1pc of turnover but at most HUF 100 million, while restaurants’ tourism development contribution will be halved to 2%.

Restaurants will be eligible to pay a preferential tax rate on service charges distributed among staff over the minimum wage.

Subsidized “Kisfaludy” credit will be paired with a matching grant, up to HUF 5 mln, for investment or working capital. The government will also weigh a shift to digital invoicing from 2027.
