Varga rejects call by Balaton businesses to ease Sunday closure rules
National Economy Minister Mihály Varga rejected an appeal by an alliance of businesses around Lake Balaton to relax rules that require big retailers to remain closed on Sundays, Hungarian news agency MTI reported this morning.
Municipalities in the Balaton and Velence region put forward a request at the end of April for the government to lift restrictions prohibiting retailers from opening on Sundays during summer holidays.
The ministry, however, could weigh possible changes to the legislation this fall, MTI noted.
