N. Macedonia's annual inflation accelerates in April

North Macedonia's average annual consumer price inflation quickened to 2.7% in April from 2.1% in March, the Skopje-based State Statistical Office (Makstat) said on Friday.

Main upward pressure came from prices of transports (10.6% vs 2.3% in March) and health services (3.1% vs 2.5%) while inflation slowed slightly for food & non-alcoholic beverages (4.1% vs 4.3%) and housing & utilities (4.4% vs 4.5%).

In addition, cost of clothing & footwear fell much less (-0.6% vs -2.1%). On a monthly comparison basis, consumer prices grew by 0.7% in April, following a 0.5% increase in the previous month.
