Economic output edged up 0.1% from the previous quarter.
In the first nine months, GDP increased 1.7% compared with the same period of 2025.
Industry was the main driver of third-quarter growth, reflecting the start of production at major investments completed in previous years and greater utilization of existing capacity. Vehicle manufacturing and the production of computers, electronic and optical products performed particularly strongly.
Services remained a stable contributor to growth. However, a substantial decline in agricultural output caused by drought significantly restrained the expansion despite the sector’s relatively small weight in the economy.
KSH cautioned that the first estimate could be revised as additional information becomes available, particularly agricultural data. Figures for the first and second quarters may also change during the regular revision process.
Growth Falls Slightly Short of Analyst Consensus
ING Bank, Raiffeisen Bank and UniCredit Bank provided the most accurate forecasts for third-quarter GDP growth, according to KSH’s experimental statistics tracking analyst expectations.
The analyst consensus exceeded the reported growth rate by 0.2 percentage points.
KSH Revises 2025 GDP Higher
KSH also revised its figures for 2025, putting GDP at current prices at HUF 87.308 trillion. That was HUF 262 billion, or 0.3%, above the value published in March 2026.
The revision also changed the GDP volume growth figure by 0.2 percentage points.
KSH noted that regular GDP revisions are part of international statistical practice, incorporating newly available information and methodological improvements to provide a more accurate picture of economic developments.
