More than 9,000 bicycles stolen in Hungary in 2015
More than 9,056 bicycles were stolen in Hungary last year, daily newspaper Magyar Idők reported today, citing data released by the National Police Headquarters (ORFK), according to Hungarian news agency MTI.
The final figure was undoubtedly higher, as the police statistics only cover bicycles valued at more than HUF 50,000, and the theft of cheaper bicycles is not recorded, the paper said.
Almost half of all bicycle thefts recorded occurred in Budapest, with thefts in neighboring Pest County and Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County also high in number, according to MTI. The lowest number of bicycle thefts last year was in Nógrád County, in the north of Hungary, the report noted.
