Licenses denied for suppliers of tills connected to tax office

The Hungarian Commercial Licensing Office has so far denied all applications by companies that aim to supply tills that meet new reporting requirements, daily Népszabadság said on Wednesday. József Kőszegi, a deputy department head at the office, told the paper that none of the five till makers who applied for licenses had submitted the necessary documentation, nor were they able to produce the machines. If a till meets the requirements, a license for its use will be issued within 15 days, he added. Hungary's government earlier mandated that all tills be connected to the tax office as part of measures to make tax collection more efficient. Businesses with tills with an online data connection had until May 1, 2013 to connect them to the tax office. Businesses with tills that record transactions electronically have until December 31, 2013 to replace their machines with ones with online data connections. However, they must supply NAV with till data on a monthly basis from July 1. Replacement tills must contain a “Tax Administration Control Unit” that is capable of mobile data transfer and that cannot be removed, technical requirements that just one Hungarian company, Mobil Adat, established last December, has said it can meet, the paper said.
