According to a report by news wire MTI, the minutes of the meeting on September 23 show the policymakers discussed a single option and took the decision to leave the base rate unchanged in line with the central bank’s “stability-oriented approach”.
“In the council members’ assessment, maintaining tight monetary conditions was warranted,” according to the minutes.
The rate-setters pointed to the uncertain global economic environment and said the baseline scenario in the central bank’s latest quarterly Inflation Report, discussed at the September policy meeting, was “surrounded by mostly upside risks to inflation and downside risks to growth”.
The council members acknowledged that financial market stability was “of key importance” for achieving the inflation target. “The Council agreed that in the current changing environment, a careful and patient approach to monetary policy remained necessary,” according to the minutes.
