Hungary's MOL has received the International Sustainability and Carbon Dioxide Emissions Certificate (ISCC Plus) for chemical recycling activities starting at its petrochemicals base in Tiszaújváros, the oil and gas company said on Wednesday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.
MOL aims to add chemically recycled polymers to its portfolio and wants to start trial production this year. MOL plans to build a pyrolysis plant with a capacity of 40,000 tonnes in the mid-term.
MOL unit Mohu recently took over a nationwide municipal waste management concession. Mohu will help Hungary meet a target to raise its recycling rate from 32% to 65%.
