MOL and Slovnaft informed the commission that Janaf stated it would deliver only crude oil already purchased and scheduled if the two companies committed to buying additional volumes.

MOL said the demand was unexpected, noting there had been no such issue in past dealings with Janaf and that their current contract contains no such condition.

The company added that Janaf had recently failed to deliver scheduled crude on time and was unilaterally altering the terms of access to non-Russian crude, leveraging its control over infrastructure.

MOL warned that the practice jeopardizes both companies’ ability to secure sufficient non-Russian crude to meet regulatory obligations and maintain uninterrupted, safe operations at Slovnaft’s refinery.

The firms urged the EC to closely monitor the matter, while expressing hope that their commercial relationship with Janaf could return to a foundation of professionalism, transparency, and fair market conduct.
