Hungary Reaches Political Agreement on Long-term Qatari LNG Deliveries

Hungary has reached a political agreement on Qatari LNG deliveries, paving the way for the signing of a long-term contract for the period after 2026, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said in Doha on Wednesday.

Szijjártó met with the Qatari foreign, energy, and finance ministers during his visit, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade said.

In a post on social media, Szijjártó said talks between Hungarian energy group MVM and QatarEnergy were "progressing well". A delivery route for the Qatari LNG will soon be decided, he added, noting that LNG terminals had been built in Greece, Türkiye, and Poland in recent years.
