According to the news portal, the EC found costs so high that it refused to allocate money for the works from its 2014-2020 budget. The cost of HUF 4 bln per km raises the suspicion of cartel activity the EC added.
As such, the construction can only be undertaken if the project is funded entirely by the Hungarian state, unless a new tender is advertised.
