Hungary R&D Spending Close to HUF 887 bln in 2022

Spending on research and development in Hungary approached HUF 887 billion in 2022, data compiled by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) shows.

Businesses accounted for 72% of R&D spending, universities for 16% and the state for 13%.

R&D spending was equivalent to 1.33% of GDP.

Almost 92,000 people were employed in R&D and close to three-fourths were researchers.

More than 40,000 articles were published on research results, two-thirds in foreign language journals.
