Student sublet rents jump 9%

On average, students admitted to higher education institutions in Budapest will have to pay almost 9% more for sublet rents this year, while those continuing their education in rural towns should expect a price increase of more than 7%, Otthon Centrum concluded in its summary of the sublet market in university cities, according to profitline.hu.

The monthly rent of brick apartments in the capital increased to HUF 184,000 this year, which is 8.7% higher than last year's average. Gábor Soóki-Tóth, head of analysis at the Otthon Centrum, explained in the announcement that the average value of HUF 191,000 measured in the city center represents a 12% increase in rent in one year.

In Buda, the HUF 193,000 monthly rent is 5% higher than last year, while the HUF 142,000 rent in the outer districts of Pest is a 3.5% increase.
