Home sales in Hungary fell 5% year-on-year to 11,304 in August, as more Hungarians than usual went on vacation, listed real estate broker Duna House said in a monthly report released Wednesday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

August home sales were also down by 5% from the same month in 2019.

Home sales in January-August increased 24% year-on-year to 105,197, up 3% from the same period of 2019, Duna House said.

Duna House augured a return to transaction volumes seen in the spring in the fall months.

Duna House estimated mortgage outlays came to HUF 110 billion in August, little changed from the previous month, supported by a home renovation subsidy program.

Mortgage outlays exceeded HUF 820 bln in the first eight months.
