Home prices rise 5.8% in Q1

Home prices in Hungary rose 5.8% quarter-on-quarter in Q1 as the number of transactions picked up, according to a report by the Central Statistical Office (KSH).

Prices for both new and resale homes rose at the same clip. In a year-on-year comparison, new home prices climbed 10.8%, while resale home prices rose 4.6%.

New home prices, averaging HUF 36.1 million in Q1, are around double resale home prices, which averaged HUF 18.6 mln.

Home prices per sqm stood at HUF 609,000 for new homes and HUF 294,000 for resale homes.
