Month-on-month, output climbed 6.7% on a seasonally and working day adjusted basis.
Growth was driven by both main construction segments. Building construction expanded 8.4% from a year earlier, while civil engineering output increased 10.5%, supported in part by a 53.8% surge in road and railway construction.
Within the broader divisions, overall building construction rose 31.6%, with small, medium and large companies all increasing production. Civil engineering output gained 12.4% year-on-year, while specialized construction activities — the sector’s largest segment — declined 5.6%.
The volume of new contracts signed in December fell 5.2% compared to a year earlier. Contracts for building construction edged up 1.6%, while those for civil engineering works dropped 15.1%. At the same time, the year-end order stock was 48.9% higher than in December 2024, driven by an 84.9% jump in civil engineering contracts, even as building construction contracts declined 8.5%.
For the full year, construction output rose 2.8% in 2025. Building construction increased 5.5%, while civil engineering output slipped 0.9%. The volume of new contracts signed during the year grew 1.8%, with civil engineering contracts up 11.6% and building contracts down 7.2%.
Construction producer prices rose 5.1% in the fourth quarter compared to the same period a year earlier. Prices increased 4.4% in both building construction and civil engineering, and 5.8% in specialized construction activities. Quarter-on-quarter, producer prices were up 0.8% in Q4.
