MNB consults mid-sized banks on “Funding for Growth Scheme”

The management of the National Bank of Hungary has continued consultations with financial institutions on the central bank's new “Funding for Growth Scheme.” On Monday, the MNB briefed mid-sized banks on details of the program. Representatives of the banks – Bank of ChinaPorsche Bank HungáriaTakarékbankCredigen BankMagnet BankBanif Plus BankOberbankMagyar Cetelem BankGránit BankCommerzbank,Kinizsi BankHanwha BankSopron Bank Burgenland and Széchenyi Kereskedelmi Bank – welcomed the cooperation and the announcement of the program. They agreed to conduct regular consultations and to work out details of the scheme. The meeting was part of consultations the central bank plans about its “Funding for Growth Scheme,” announced on April 4. The MNB consulted first with the heads of eight big banks on the program on April 8. The MNB said earlier it planned to discuss the scheme with the representatives of specialized banks and savings cooperatives as well. The program is scheduled to start in June for three months.
