LEGO to open Innovation Studio in Nyíregyháza
The University of Nyíregyháza (NE Hungary) and LEGO Education International have signed a cooperation agreement in Belgium, based on which LEGO will establish an Innovation Studio at the university as the first of its kind in the Central and East European region.
The goal of the Innovation Studio is to acquaint current and future educators with the potential educational and skills development applications of the famous toy building blocks, online business news site vg.hu reported Wednesday.
The center will also function as a community forum, sharing what can often be dry knowledge of the natural sciences with students, teachers and parents alike, according to a press release from the university cited by vg.hu.
Nyíregyháza is the site of the LEGO Groupʼs Hungarian factory, which already cooperates closely with the university in a number of areas, the report notes.
Members of a delegation from the university were in Belgium for the signing, where they visited an international workshop and presentation of educational methods at the Hogeschool PXL teacher training college in Hasselt on May 29.
