Hungaryʼs KÉSZ Group has won a major state tender in Latvia, with the construction company set to manufacture and assemble the steel structure of Rigaʼs outdoor theater, according to a press release sent to the Budapest Business Journal.

The complex roof structure will be transported via oversize trucks from Kecskemét (about 90 km southeast of Budapest) to the Latvian capital. The largest structural element will be more than 26 meters long and 5 meters wide. As KÉSZ will be responsible for manufacture, transport and assembly, the project will be worked on by 50 people in Hungary and 30 people in Latvia.

Latvia will spend EUR 45 million on the development altogether, with the value of the tender won by KÉSZ approaching EUR 9 mln. As the outdoor venue will be a cultural center of the city, representatives of the Riga municipality visited Kecskemét on January 18 to familiarize themselves with the manufacturing technology and the resources of the group.

"KÉSZ works under multiple general contractors, but its expertise is well-recognized on the international market as well," said Balázs Uhrinyi, managing director of KÉSZ Ipari Gyártó Kft. He added that the contract is both an honor and a recognition that the firmʼs professional knowledge and the capabilities of its steel structure factory are able to hold their own anywhere in the world.
