Wizz Air launching Dortmund-Hévíz flight

Transport

Hungarian low-fare airline Wizz Air launched a scheduled flight between Dortmund and Hungary's Hévíz-Balaton Airport (190 km southwest of Budapest) last week according to portfolio.hu.

It is the first scheduled flight at the airport, close to Lake Balaton and the spa town of Hévíz, home to Europe's largest thermal lake, in almost 15 years.

The Hungarian Tourism Agency, which controls the airport's state-owned operator, has prioritized boosting German tourism in Hévíz and the Balaton region, the agency's deputy CEO, Zsófia Jakab, said.

Hévíz mayor Gábor Papp noted that 1,233,000 guest nights were registered in the spa town in 2019, the year before the pandemic.

About 170 passengers arrived on the first Wizz Air Hévíz-Balaton flight yesterday. Wizz Air will operate the flight twice a week until September 15.
