Slovakia's industrial production increased 0.8% year-on-year in August, easing from a 7.8% jump in the prior month, data released by the Slovak Statistical Office (SÚSR) on Monday show.

Whilst output continued to grow sharply for electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (11.1%), it fell for manufacturing (-0.5%), mostly the car industry (-32.9%) amid the ongoing global shortage of semiconductors.

Mining activity also declined further (-9.2%). On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial production shrank 3.8%.
