About 50 Italian companies participated at a business forum organized by Hungary in Bologna yesterday, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade State Secretary László Szabó told Hungarian news agency MTI today.
Seven Italian companies held separate talks on possible investments in Hungary, Szabó said, adding that the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA) is working on eight Italian projects. If these projects come to fruition, they would involve investments of more than €100 million and create more than 1,000 jobs, he added.
Szabó met with representatives of Lombardyʼs industrial association on Monday. The opportunity for cooperation between local companies and Hungarian partners in third-party countries, in the Middle East, Africa or South America, was raised, he said.
Also touched upon during the meeting were labor force issues delaying developments at cable maker Prysmianʼs bases in the Hungarian cities of Balassagyarmat and Kistelek, Szabó said. Hungary will help seek a resolution to these problems, he added.
Szabó will meet with drugmakers in Florence today before winding up his three-day trip to Italy.
