GVH greenlights Veolia’s purchase of GDF Suez’s plant
Hungaryʼs Competition Office (GVH) approved French-owned Veolia Energia Magyarország’s purchase of GDF Suez Magyarország’s district heating plant in Százhalombatta, close to the capital, Veolia announced today.
The 25MW plant was inaugurated approximately a year ago and supplies heat to 4,200 homes.
Veolia, previously Dalkia, will gain 100% ownership in heating company Dunai Hótermelő through the purchase, the announcement said. The announcement added that Veolia is confident that the Hungarian Energy and Utilities Regulatory Office (MEKH) will soon approve the deal.
“Our aim is to provide optimal conditions for the operation of heating services in Százhalombatta, taking into consideration the aspects of comfort, safety and energy efficiency,” Ferenc Fernezelyi, Commercial and Marketing Director at Veolia Energia Magyarország Zrt, said in mid-July when the agreement on the purchase was signed.
