Ditigital TV subscriptions share rises to 64.7% by end of March

Digital service subscriptions made 64.7% of all television subscriptions of 2,931,000 at Hungary's biggest television companies at end of March 2013, the National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH) said on Friday. The ratio was 64.2% at the end of February and was 60.0% twelve months earlier. Hungary must complete the switch to digital broadcasting by the end of 2014 the latest. The biggest companies had 1,895,000 digital subscriptions at the end of March, up 26,000 from a month earlier and up 188,000 in twelve months. The number of their analog subscriptions fell 11,000 in a month and 102,000 in one year to 1,036,000 at the end of March. The data cover Hungary's 11 biggest digital television service providers, which control about 88% of the market. The ratio of their digital subscribers with cable or IPTV connections rose to 30.4% from 30.0% at the end of February and 25.5% one year earlier.
