Despite VW scandal, Audi Hungária hits production targets

Although Audi Hungária said it could not comment on the future impact of the situation at the Volkswagen group, the Hungarian unit of the German car manufacturer continues to achieve its production targets, the firm told Hungarian news agency MTI today.
Volkswagen, the parent company of Audi, is still reeling from the disclosure that it rigged approximately 11 million diesel engines to hide the extent of their emissions. Audi Hungária told MTI that it had turned out approximately 3 million of the EA189 diesel engines that have come under scrutiny since 2008.
Audi Hungaria has not stopped hiring and it has no knowledge of production being scaled back at other factories, the Hungarian unit told MTI.
Hungary’s Economy Minister Mihály Varga earlier spoke about the possible impacts of the scandal on the country’s economy and automotive sector.
