Around 280,000 travelers stayed for almost 530,000 guest nights at tourism accommodation in Hungary over the three-day Pentecost weekend, the Hungarian Tourism Agency said yesterday, according to hirado.hu.

Figures from the National Tourism Data Service Center (NTAK) show that the number of travelers rose 4% and that the number of guest nights climbed 6% from the same period a year earlier.

Around 166,000 domestic travelers stayed 320,000 guest nights, and 110,000 foreign visitors stayed 207,000 guest nights over the long weekend, the latter up by 10%.

Germans spent the most guest nights (34,000), followed by Austrians (17,000) and tourists from the United Kingdom (14,000).

Sizeable numbers of guest nights were also spent by visitors from the United States (10,000) and the Czech Republic (9,000), while guest nights by tourists from China rose around 50% to 5,000.
