At center in emphasis is the “Palace of Pools” facility to be built in Pest, which will consist of several swimming pools and entertainment venues; once constructed, this will be Hungary’s largest competitive swimming/training venue by a substantial amount. Lake Balaton will play host to open-water events and high diving.
Last July, the world’s governing body for swimming announced the awarding of the event to Hungary, which managed to beat out bids from Azerbaijan and the United Arab Emirates in the tender to win hosting privileges.
