KSH added that, compared to October a year ago, exports fell by 2.2%, to €7.506 bln, while imports increased by 2.6%, to €7.155 bln.

The surplus for the month fell sharply from €938.7 mln in September as the surplus in the machinery and vehicle industry narrowed from €1.111 bln to €795 mln and the energy deficit rose from €522 mln to €701m, the detailed KSH data show.

“The export and import volumes of food, beverages and tobacco grew by 3.9% and 6.0%, respectively, compared to January–October 2013,” according to KSH.
