Attila Steiner said the draft regulation affected the release of 250,000 tonnes of crude, necessary to ensure local supply following a disruption of deliveries of Russian crude through the Druzhba pipeline which runs across Ukraine.

Hungary’s strategic crude reserves are equivalent to 96 days of net imports.

Steiner said Ukraine had not allowed the restart of deliveries through the Druzhba “for political reasons”.

As the BBJ reported earlier, Hungary has halted diesel deliveries to Ukraine, Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Péter Szijjártó announced Wednesday, saying shipments will only resume once crude flows through the Druzhba pipeline are restarted.
