The designation is granted to business and economics universities that play a leading role in responsible and sustainable management education in line with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
The Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) is a UN-supported global initiative aimed at embedding sustainability, responsible leadership and social responsibility into higher education. More than 800 business and economics higher education institutions worldwide are members of the network.
PRME Champion status indicates that an institution integrates sustainability at a strategic level, applies innovative teaching and research practices, and actively contributes to the professional work of the international PRME community.
According to Katalin Ásványi, Ddan for Sustainability at Corvinus University, the recognition marks an important milestone. She said the university has placed strong emphasis in recent years on embedding sustainability principles in both education and research, adding that the award not only validates past efforts but also offers an opportunity to further strengthen responsible and sustainable economic thinking internationally. She noted that the title could also serve as inspiration for the wider university community.
Over the next two years, Corvinus will take part in PRME’s strategic professional work, share best practices at international forums and continue developing the education of the next generation of sustainable and responsible leaders, the university says.
The university also aims to strengthen the visibility and role of Central and Eastern Europe within the global PRME community.
