Average net earnings rose faster, increasing 10.2% year-on-year to HUF 525,900, reflecting the impact of expanded tax allowances.

The stronger growth in net pay compared with gross wages was driven primarily by a higher family tax allowance introduced on July 1, 2025, and a new tax allowance for mothers raising three children that took effect on Oct. 1. Adjusted for inflation, real earnings increased by 6.2% in November, alongside a 3.8% rise in consumer prices compared with the same month a year earlier.

Regular average gross earnings, excluding premiums and one-off bonuses, amounted to HUF 665,100 in November, an 8.7% increase year-on-year. By sector, regular gross earnings stood at HUF 653,100 in the business sector, HUF 679,100 in the budgetary sector and HUF 739,500 in the nonprofit sector, rising by 7.5%, 10.4% and 14.4%, respectively.

Median earnings also posted solid growth. Median gross earnings reached HUF 600,000 in November, up 10.1% from a year earlier, while median net earnings climbed 10.5% to HUF 417,900, indicating broad-based wage increases across income levels.

For the January–November 2025 period as a whole, average gross earnings of full-time employees amounted to HUF 697,300, while average net earnings reached HUF 481,100. Compared with the same period in 2024, gross earnings increased by 9.1% and net earnings by 9.4%, continuing the trend of robust wage growth supported by tax policy changes.
