According to the indictment, the man travelled extensively in connection with his work, and arrived in Budapest on Oct 28 last year, while the victim came to the Hungarian capital as a tourist on Oct 31.

They met on the evening of Nov 4 at an entertainment venue in District VII, and after several hours of drinking, the victim went up to the defendant’s rented apartment at dawn. During their time together, the man tied the victim up before assaulting and strangling her.

The man used his phone to take pictures of the victim while assaulting her and after her death. The next day, the defendant bought a suitcase in which he transported the victim’s body on Nov 6 in a rented car to a wooded area in the Balaton region, in western Hungary, and hid it there.

Budapest police took him into custody the next day.

The Budapest Chief Prosecutor’s Office charged the defendant with murder and requested that the Budapest Court of Justice sentence him to prison without parole and bar him from Hungary, the prosecution said.
