Companies’ contributions to the DRS, paid on a monthly basis, added up to HUF 5.5bn by the middle of August, while refunds came to HUF 7.2 billion, Mohu said.
Mohu has pledged to boost the recycled container rate to at least 90% within three years from the launch of the DRS.
DRS automats have been installed at around 2,200 locations around the country.
Bottles and cans can be returned manually at an additional 1,000 points. Hundreds more automats will be installed in the future, according to the report.
