From August 7, 2017, David M Johnston starts his new role as Senior Director, Head of Advisory and Transaction Services at real estate services firm CBRE Hungary. In this new position, he will oversee and manage the operation of CBRE’s three agency teams in Hungary, namely Office, Retail and Industrial.

The Head of Advisory and Transactions is a new role within CBRE, with the Hungarian position being only the sixth of its kind across the entire EMEA region, according to a press release received by the Budapest Business Journal. The key objective behind this role, it continues, is the alignment and optimization of the Agency teams, in order to deliver a stronger, more complex service to clients.

CBRE Hungary employs 16 people across the three Agency teams, and it will be Johnston’s task to manage and oversee the growth and development of these teams, resulting in enhanced client care and a far more sophisticated and integrated service to client’s needs, the press release adds.

Before joining CBRE, Johnston spent almost 14 years working at Cushman & Wakefield, most recently - for the last nine years - as Partner and Head of the Office Agency Team based in Budapest, and before this for Cushman & Wakefield based in their Edinburgh office in his native Scotland.

Johnston is a Member of, and an Assessor for, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

It will be Johnstonʼs responsibility to lead the implementation and development of personnel and clients within the three teams.

“There is no doubt that this new role is a very exciting and creative initiative from CBRE,” said Johnston. “All Agency teams operate in approximately the same manner, sharing some of the same clients between them. This new role allows us to take advantage of this, unify the service lines and offer a far more sophisticated and integrated solution to our clients.”

“We are very proud to have David in our Budapest team. He is one of the most experienced and respected Agents within the Hungarian market, and with this experience and his professional approach, I am confident that CBRE can reach its key objective – providing unique solutions to our Hungarian and international clients more efficiently,” said Lóránt Kibédi Varga, Managing Director of CBRE Hungary.
