The Downtown Beer Festival (Belvárosi Sörfesztivál), running June 5-10, will create a special beer specifically for the event based on the online input of beer lovers, who are able to vote for the alcohol content, color, and type of beer.
Visitors to the third Downtown Beer Festival will be able to sample approximately 250 different beers, according to a press release sent to the Budapest Business Journal. This year, however, will mark the first occasion that a beer created with the help of the public will be available.
The organizers, cooperating with the First Craft Beer brewery, will brew the festivalʼs very own beer, based on the results of a survey accessible here (in Hungarian). Respondents can decide on aspects such as bitterness, hoppiness, and whether they prefer a lager or an ale. Organizers will wait for the answers until May 13, after which the brewing will begin based on the most popular answers.
Apart from beer, the festival will feature street food as well as concerts for the entertainment of visitors. Last year, the festivalʼs 100,000 visitors consumed more than 150,000 mugs of beer. The festival aims to familiarize the public with Hungarian beers.
