Szijjártó: Migration crisis can’t be solved until Syria ends war

Europe’s "migration" crisis cannot be solved without solving the conflict in Syria, as “a significant number” of immigrants are arriving from Syria, while “another significant number” claim to have come from there, Hungary’s Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said today at a summit in New York, Hungarian news agency MTI reported.
Following Germanyʼs announcement that it would accept Syrian refugees, "everyone that arrives at the borders [of Hungary] is Syrian and, naturally, none of them have passports," the minister told MTI. "Therefore, without solving the Syrian conflict, there is no way of easing migration pressure in Europe," Szijjártó reportedly said.
The minister told MTI after the summit that opinions on Syria still differ among European Union members states. In reference to the current situation in Europe, the minister said he believes that “new and innovative methods” are needed as “old ones have not been successful”. He said that Hungary agrees with Germany that the Syrian conflict can only be solved “with the involvement of all players.”
