"Without a civilized East-West cooperation, it is basically impossible to complete the SDGs," Szijjártó told the forum.
He warned that "huge steps" were being taken toward a return to a world "divided into blocs," but pointed to an "encouraging example" from Hungary involving international cooperation to boost the capacity of the country's Paks nuclear power plant.
He noted that the general contractor for the project was Russian, but American, German and French subcontractors were also involved. That cooperation shows "common sense will prevail over political and ideological motivations," he argued.
He said Hungary aimed to increase the share of nuclear power in its electricity gene ration to 70% with the investment despite "attacks" against the energy source. "Hungary says 'yes' to the green cause […] and 'no' to the green ideology," he added.
